Exploring how Australians like to stay active

The National Heart Foundation of Australia exists to improve the prevention, detection, and support of heart disease for all Australians.

They wanted fresh insights on what everyday Australians want from their neighbourhood, suburbs and areas they live and what they consider to be the factors that contribute to a healthy neighbourhood.

In times of information saturation cutting through the noise has never been more important. The National Heart Foundation of Australia wanted to gather robust research and present the findings in a visually engaging way to be used as an advocacy piece to strengthen the case for walkable and liveable neighbourhoods and cities. All of this was was collected to advocate for walkable cities to improve the heart health of Australians.

The Solution

To achieve this outcome McCrindle designed a study to gather insights in a 15 minute survey from 3,000 Australians exploring how people like to stay active, what they want from a local area, and the elements that contribute to a thriving community. The insights were used to tell the story of what Australians want and explore attitudes and ideas to improve the walkability and amenities of local areas.

Deliverables

The result

The research provided the National Heart Foundation with insights and data to be used for ongoing advocacy of healthy communities to further their mission to improve the heart health for all Australians. The research launch also resulted in significant media engagement leading to a reach of 2.2 million people across TV, newspapers and radio.

McCrindle was great to work with throughout this research project: responsive, communicative, adaptable and flexible. The team took the time to understand our business, our audience, and key objectives. There were regular communications throughout; and the team went above and beyond in producing the final insights and analysis report that presented outcomes clearly and succinctly with key snapshots well articulated to resonate with key audiences and support our advocacy efforts. This will be a valuable piece of work for many years to come and has already been welcomed across industry.
