Aged Care

Anglicare

Understanding older migrant communities.

Anglicare engaged us for a broad range of research areas. In this project we were tasked with understanding Sydney’s older Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino and Maltese communities to better meet the aged care needs of these migrant communities.

The Solution

39 in-depth interviews and ten focus groups were conducted among long-term migrants, children (decision-makers) of recent older migrants, aged care staff, and Anglicare residents of each migrant community. Interviews were conducted in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

Deliverables

The results provided Anglicare with a comprehensive overview of the differences in aged care preferences within each migrant community, informing the development of specific retirement living and residential aged care facilities. An industry-first, the insights have been shared at sector-wide aged care conferences by Anglicare and McCrindle on multiple occasions.

“Genuinely a partnership to get the best results. The abilities of the team to enhance outcomes through inclusion of relevant demographic data, as well as the smartly designed infographics yields a more 'complete' set of insights than any other research company we have used over the last three years. Due to the close collaboration and flexibility of the team, organisational objectives were adhered to closely, even when they changed or were amended mid-way through the project. Research insights assisted us in the design and development of a new integrated seniors community at Rooty Hill (Sydney), where a range of services will also be made available to the general public. In this regard, we have been particularly mindful of the needs and preferences of both the Filipino and Maltese communities in the local area, influencing the nature and type of amenities and care services that will be provided, as well as how we are marketing and promoting our accommodation options.”
