Understanding the sentiment and perceptions of local businesses to inform advocacy and develop evidence-based solutions

The challenge

Toowoomba Chamber were looking to gain insights for their business community to help provide insight on:

  • The issues and pressures facing local businesses
  • Tactical data on current and future programs/initiatives
  • A clear understanding of how businesses are performing
  • Their future sentiment and a detailed understanding of how conditions are affecting the business community in Toowoomba
  • Longitudinal insights to understand changing trends

The Solution

The Business PSI survey, developed by McCrindle, is an index that measures conditions, performance and sentiment along with space for custom questions to better understand the needs of the business community within a geographic region. Using the McCrindle Business PSI, we deployed a 15 minute online survey with 21 questions that measure the conditions, sentiment and performance of businesses.

In addition to that, they added additional questions to the survey to find tailored insights for their unique area.

Once the data was collected, the data was analysed and delivered back to Toowoomba Chamber with the key findings and insights in a comprehensive report. The insights were also presented by Mark McCrindle to a group of business owners in the chamber.

McCrindle delivered the insights in a comprehensive report, infographic and presented the findings in a keynote presentation:
