St Mark’s Anglican School
Strategic insights through a school-wide survey
St Mark’s Anglican Community School, an independent school in Perth, was seeking to conduct a school-wide survey as part of its regular schedule of community consultation. This presented an opportunity to leverage data to gain a deeper understanding of the school’s community health and performance. The goal was to move beyond a simple collation of data to a clear and insightful analysis to inform key decisions for the school.
The solution
St Mark’s utilised McCrindle’s Thriving School Index, a school stakeholder study to gather data from key stakeholders including parents, staff and students and compare the results against national data. The Thriving Schools Index includes 24 questions across 6 domains:
- Student development
- Teaching
- Student wellbeing
- Schooling experience
- Connection and belonging
- Leadership
Deliverables
Once the survey was distributed and completed, the school leadership received an insights report and research presentation with the findings.
Insights report
A summary of key findings was presented in an executive summary style report. The report contained visual outputs including:
- Outline of the Thriving Schools Index and explanation of its components
- Full-page breakdown of the scores for each key indicator, for each stakeholder group (parents, staff, students)
- Summary tables: top 5 indicators, bottom 5 indicators, top 5 variances from national average, top 5 variances between stakeholder groups
Research presentation
The key findings from the report were presented in a research presentation to the leadership team, and the presentation slides were provided following the session.
